Differences Operating System 32 bit to 64 bit

The case for studying this started when I want to download the Operating System Backtrack 5 presented with 2 options, 32 bit and 64 bit. The most basic difference is the 32-bit and 64-bit refers to the way a computer processor (CPU) handles the process. 64-bit versions of Windows handle large amounts of random access memory (RAM) is more effective than 32-bit systems.

To install 64-bit OS version we should have a CPU on your system that is capable of running 64-bit Windows versions. The benefits of using 64-bit operating system's most obvious when we have large amounts of RAM installed on our computers, usually 4 GB of RAM or more. In such cases, because 64-bit operating system can handle large amounts of memory more efficiently than 32-bit operating system. 64-bit operating systems can be more responsive when running multiple programs at the same time and often switch between programs.

Many programs can run, but the 32-bit programs will run slower in the operating system 64-bit and 32-bit drivers can not run on 64-bit operating system.

All 64-bit programs can not run on 32-bit operating system. Similarly, all drivers.

The most significant difference is the OS is capable of handling 64 bits of memory / RAM up to 192 GB (Windows 64 Home Edition is limited to 16GB with licensing reasons), while the 32 bit OS can only handle a maximum of 4GB of RAM. Some modern chip technology has PAE (Physical Address Extension) which allows 32-bit OS handle up to 64GB of RAM, but require applications that support the technology, which rarely have a regular application.
In addition, a 32 bit OS will have difficulty dealing with the file size above 4GB, even though the development of multimedia sometimes make us deal with a file of elephants swollen. Handle files like this will make the system often use virtual memory / swap memory thus slowing down the work and make the drive to work hard.
OS 64 bit also has several other advantages such as numerical computation, encryption, etc. will be able to utilize the 64 bit wide path so that the process becomes faster. Floating-point calculations can also be more precise so that the creep-error becomes smaller.
