For Windows XP (or older) users:
- Go to Start -> Search for files and folders
- Select your computer or your hard drives in the Look In drop-down menu.
- Enter the following for file name to be searched: *.TMP
- This will search all files with extension .tmp. The office files are usually with the names same as their types of documents, for example: docx22.tmp. You can easily find your files by sorting the “date modified”.
- Run Ms Office and try to open the temp files you’ve just recovered.
For Windows 7 or Windows Vista users:
- Go to Start -> Simply search for anything and then click on See More Results. (Or simply open My Computer)
- In the box at the upper right corner of the window appeared, enter the following for file name to be searched:

- Run Ms Office and try to open the temp files you’ve just recovered.
Recover doc and docx files using Damaged docx2txt
