Recover Corrupted pptx, ppt, docx, doc, xlsx, xls, odt Files from TEMP Folders

Usually a Microsoft Office file (pptx, ppt, docx, doc, xlsx, xls, odt, ods, and odp) can be corrupted when your computer or the MS Office app itself crashes while you’re trying to save it. This often happens when there is a power failure. Microsoft Office, by default, will save a temp file periodically while you’re working on an office file. You can easily recover these temp files from the temp folders in Windows. This method eliminate the need of any third party software to recover your corrupted office files. Follow the steps below to recover the temp files.

For Windows XP (or older) users:

1. Go to Start -> Search for files and folders
2. Select your computer or your hard drives in the Look In drop-down menu.
3. Enter the following for file name to be searched: *.TMP
4. This will search all files with extension .tmp. The office files are usually with the names same as their types of documents, for example: docx22.tmp. You can easily find your files by sorting the “date modified”.
5. Run Ms Office and try to open the temp files you’ve just recovered.

For Windows 7 or Windows Vista users:

1. Go to Start -> Simply search for anything and then click on See More Results. (Or simply open My Computer)
2. In the box at the upper right corner of the window appeared, enter the following for file name to be searched:
   type:.tmp
3. This will search all files with extension .tmp. The office files are usually with the names same as their types of documents, for example: docx22.tmp. You can easily find your files by sorting the “date modified”.
4. Run Ms Office and try to open the temp files you’ve just recovered.

Recover doc and docx files using Damaged docx2txt
